Wrestling Night Fallout and MORE

I just slept for thirteen hours. It was grand. And also, unlike most of the time when I sleep for thirteen hours, I'm not waking up in mid-afternoon.

Keith drove a carload (Lucas, Amanda and myself) of folks over to Chez Davekwon Tuesday night, and thus he was given the privilege and honor of selecting the wrestling fare for the evening. His choice?

I can't even remember the last time I'd seen this show (perhaps not since watching it live with Lee and Franz nearly ten years ago) with its one night tournament format, but it held up fairly well. There wasn't really any good wrestling on it to speak of, but as it was right in the thick of the Russo era I was hardly expecting that. It was actually a lot of pretty good booking, including about thirty appearances by new cult hero, The Big Boss Man, who wants nothing more than for you to shut up and listen to him.

"I HAVE FEELINGS TOO!"

In particular, the stuff stretching from the semi-finals with the Steve Austin/Mankind match featuring referee Shane McMahon's one-two-double bird pinfall count, all the way to the recreation of the previous year's Montreal finish, is fairly inspired. The downside? Vince Russo hasn't really had a good idea since and is still working at a high level in the business based on storylines he contributed to in the late '90s.

Fun for the whole family

Also, watching a VHS cassette on an HDTV was just weird.

I promised more. Hm...

Oh, sorry. That probably counts as Wrestling Night Fallout as well.

OH! I know!

I was Up... All... Night!

I don't really have much to report.

Oh, except for that I won Halloween Movie Marathon for the THIRD YEAR IN A ROW. Unfortunately, I didn't fulfill my promise from last year of obtaining an MP3 of Joe Esposito's The Best Around to play after my triumph. There's always '09.

Scott Steiner made his return to TNA at tonight's Impact! tapings. After last week's show, I was ready to give up on the company entirely, but they've won back some good will with this news.

A flimsy excuse to post a picture of Stacy Keibler? Perhaps.

Tonight is Wrestling Night, and I'm not entirely sure what we'll be watching yet. I'm sure I'll scare up something fun. I'd like to go with Halloween themed fare, so we'll see.

Until next time, you've been blogged!

Ouch: Not Safe for Work

Well wishes for Davekwon, who had surgery this morning as a direct result of Target. BITE ME, TARGET.

I was looking for a pictorial representation of this surgery, but everything was far too graphic and realistic. So I decided to go with one that was only graphic.

Dave's Hernia

Feel better, dude. Maybe we can caravan over to his place for wrestling night on Tuesday, seeing as he's restricted from living his life for a while.

Postponement

Just a quick heads up for those planning on attending Wrestling Night festivities this evening. I have what I thought was a 24 hour type bug, and it's stuck around for another go round. I really don't feel like giving anyone the plague, or being seen with even less color than usual in my face, so if it would be possible, how about rescheduling for tomorrow evening? If that's not doable, we can just aim for Tuesday the 28th instead. I'm flexible!

Learning from your subconscious

I'm heading off for a funeral in a few minutes (89 years old, long, full, amazing life) but I wanted to write about this before I forgot it because I think it illustrates what an elitist wrestling nerd I've become (as if anyone wasn't already aware).

I had a dream last night that I was involved in an eight person tag team match in an alley. I was just waiting to be tagged in, watching the match unfold, when suddenly, a small plane crashed into a brick wall. I looked at this, and then began to yell at the wrestler who had performed this "move". "You crash a plane in a match and it's not even the finish? How is anything going to follow that? You never put a plane crash in the middle of a match!"

So I tagged in, and my opponent was a girl. We circled one another, and I asked her, "What kind of lock up do you want to do?" She said, "Buttercup." I said, "This is my first match." She said, "Oh." Then she just beat on me for a while.

The moral of this story is that sometimes you have to just let yourself be a fan and accept a crashing plane in the middle of a match, or else large female wrestlers might pummel you.

Is wrestling night this coming Tuesday good for people?

Amanda Wins

Yes, I failed to write a new blog entry on October the 14th, 2008. I'm sorry. I blame the Cleveland Browns and inebriation.

My original plan for Monday night was to attend half the Browns Monday Night Football game, come home, update the blog, and go to sleep. Unfortunately, Cleveland led the defending Super Bowl champions 17-14 at halftime, leaving me unable to extricate myself. I had assumed that Cleveland's best would falter in the face of the New York football Giants, but they refused to buckle, and indeed wound up winning 35-14. Anyhow, the extra half of football left me quite intoxicated, not to mention home past midnight.

I returned to my humble abode and began watching Monday Night RAW, with the intention of writing up a Workrate Report. Sadly, the episode left me cold, and I wound up fast forwarding through much of it. 2008 wrestling sucks! Viva la old school!

Davekwon and I are going to hit up the Gateway this afternoon to see Quarantine. I saw Religulous last night, and let me tell you, Bill Maher hates religion. YOU ARE SHOCKED, I KNOW. Anyhow, I am intoxicated and without a compass, so I'll sign off now. Let me leave you with this: five and a half years is too long to hold onto something. Let it go or you may find that you're too late. WORD LIFE.

More at 11

I somehow ended up with half a bottle of Gatorade Fierce Grape and half a bottle of G2, the low calorie version of the same thing. I mixed them together, I guess kind of like mixing skim and 2% milk in order to get 1%. Or something. Anyway, don't do this. It doesn't taste good.

Also, I'm home. And very tired. I'll put up something more comprehensive tomorrow, but suffice to say for now that I had a nice time and it was even warm enough to do some swimming.

Peace, Columbus!

I've got two days and sixteen hours worth of summer 2006 Figure Four Weekly audio content syncing up on my iPod right now, and I hope it can hold me over until next weekend. I'm heading out tomorrow afternoon, bound for the uppermost of the Carolinas. My family used to go there every other summer when I was growing up, four out of eight years I believe, and it's been more than a decade since I've been out on that beach. Thank God, I just need to get out of Columbus for a little while. It's been way too long. I'm sorry I'll be missing the big Ashley get together tomorrow night, but these things happen. Anyway, I wanted to get something up just to let everyone know that most likely wouldn't be posting anything over the next eight days. I hope all is well elsewhere. Adios!
