Wedding Bell Blues

Not that I've been especially prolific of late, but I wanted to get something up for the weekend, as I'm going to be at a wedding in the Chicago area and won't have Internet access until probably late Sunday night. I'm sort of dreading this. There's nothing quite like a good friend's blessed nuptials to remind you of how lonely you are. I tell ya, I thought I had it all figured out in March.

Anyway, I don't want to dwell on that too much. Because I saw Cheerleader Camp and The Strangers. Here's what I have to say about The Strangers. It's release date was pushed back twice. RED FLAG. Awful movie. Don't waste your $1.25 at Carriage Place. Go see Forgetting Sarah Marshall instead. Or even Baby Mama, if you're desperate. DO NOT GO TO SEE THE STRANGERS. You will scream "WHAT?" at the end of the movie and Dave will not be sympathetic because he will have loved it.

As for Cheerleader Camp, it's been out for twenty-one years, so you really have no excuse to have not seen it by now. IT RULED. However, do not be fooled by the cover.

There are no skeletons in this movie. NONE. It's okay, though. There are murders, and presumably, the victims turn into skeletons at some point down the line. Also, it has Leif Garrett in it.

Thanks to Amanda for helping me find the third besatie in that game. I was about to pull my hair out.

Wrestling night is now Tuesday the 29th, and I'll have something ready to watch. I'm not quite sure what just yet, but I'll come up with something.

Katie's birthday is on Sunday, so make sure to wish her a happy. She worked something like eleven shifts this week, so she's earned it. It's a rigorous schedule at the advanced age of twenty-six.

The words "Mayo Clinic" were mentioned by one of my doctors this past week. This is looking like a downer of a fall.

I want something really good to happen. I'm sort of freaking out.

Okay. I've got to get going. I'm sure I'll talk to some of you soon.

Dazed and Confused

I have a concussion. I picked up this sweet baby on Saturday night, sometime between 9:00 pm and 9:30 pm, en route to Franz and Drew's place. As best as I can tell, I just passed out like I normally do, but instead of lucking out and spraining an ankle or breaking an arm, I smacked my head right on the sidewalk. The details are fuzzy, but I lived. I'm pretty clear headed now, but I've got this nagging headache that won't go away, and it's totally not cool. Anyway, other than just feeling bitter and angry about various things, I'm cancelling wrestling night once again, as I just don't want to sit here and acquire the sixteen different parts of the Great American Bash one by one today. If somebody reads this today and does want to hang out or something though, please, please let me know. I'm going nuts and would love to go get a beer or whatever.

George Romero Should Retire

Diary of the Dead. What to say? I liked it less than I liked The Ferryman, for starters.

Though Andrew will surely disagree, this is not exactly high praise. I think that Diary of the Dead was probably technically a better movie than The Ferryman, but of the two films I watched last night, one was completely up its own ass with messages and the other was not. I leave it to those with any familiarity with George A. Romero to decide which is which.

THUMBS DOWN.

The Ferryman was at least goofy enough to largely entertain me throughout it's nearly two-hour running time. For a movie starring John Rhys Davies, you really don't get a whole lot of John Rhys Davies.

Perhaps the following Tuesday, the 22nd.

Striking a Balance

The big appointment is tomorrow, though the bloom is pretty much off the rose at this point. Still, I'm hopeful that this therapist can perhaps point me in another direction if she can't help me herself. Plus, I've got a cardiology consult coming up soon, so hopefully that will bear some fruit. Right now, sitting here, I'm less dour about things than I was a couple of days ago, but I have a feeling that depending on how this appointment goes, I might be ready to break furniture by the time I leave her office. We shall see.

Setback

The party is still on for Friday, though it doesn't look we're going to have anything in particular to celebrate at this point. B.Y.O.B. because I'm B.R.O.K.E, which doesn't actually stand for anything, it just fits.

I'm handling this better than I thought I would. Essentially, I've lost nothing. I'm right back where I was a few weeks ago. But I really felt like my life was getting ready to start again, and it's not. If you'd asked me how I'd have taken that news, I'd probably have told you I'd be on a window ledge or something, but I'm not. Not just because I don't like heights, but partly.

End of the Line

I want to do something next Friday to kind of celebrate the (hopeful) beginning of the end of this nearly nine year chapter of my life. I have my big appointment with the balance therapist next Thursday, which according to medical professionals is the answer to all my prayers and the solution to many of my problems. But anyway, yeah. Next Friday, cancel Christmas. Because we're going to party.
