Things One Runs Across Whilst Perusing Message Boards

"ty I MISS I TRULY MISS OWEN THE KING OF HARTS HER WAS ONE OF THE BEST MY HE REST IN PEACE."

This guy had a sweet Big Boss Man avatar though, so he can't be all bad. How much must he suck that I'm mocking him when all he did was eulogize Owen Hart with terrible grammar and spelling?

Don't lose heart. I've not vanished. I have a fairly big blog entry coming soon, hopefully tomorrow afternoon. YOU'VE BEEN WARNED.

Rambo is Stupider than Spiders

I was playing Rambo on the NES last night, and the colonel or general or whatever asked me at the beginning if I wanted to help him. Then I was given two options, one of which was to go fight, the other to stay in prison and chill. I picked the second one. The colonel guy then told me that I couldn't begin playing (totally breaking the fourth wall, by the way) unless I picked the first option. WHY? Why give me the options to begin with? WHAT DID THIS ACCOMPLISH? I think Seanbaby wrote something about this at some point regarding Phantasy Star something or other, but I can't find the article right now. Point is, this was not an isolated incident, and it's like game developers put the horse in front of the cart in terms of offering players "choices." Oh hey, I found the Seanbaby line. Turns out it was about Shining Force, not Phantasy Star. Whatever. Same thing.

"Sometimes video games ask you interactive yes or no questions. Don't be tricked by having two options. They're only teasing you with one of them. For example, in the game shown, Shining Force 2 (Sega Genesis), you often get asked things like, "Will you help the king?" If you answer NO, it'll say, "Oh, but you must!" If you answer NO again, it will say, "Oh, but you must!" This will go on until someone or something destroys the power lines outside your house. And don't think you can just kill the King to get him to shut up, there's no button for that."

I decided to make Seanbaby blue, probably because that's the way I feel when he doesn't update his site for nearly two years.

Holy yikes, I actually found the exact screen from Rambo that illustrates my hatred!

See? It tells you before you even answer! STUPID.

C-Ya

It's beyond played out to rail about people misunderstanding irony, but it still bugs me. 99.9% of the time someone says that something is ironic, they're only doing it to sound smart. And in 99.9% of those instances, they misuse the concept. THIS DEFEATS THE ENTIRE PURPOSE OF TRYING TO LOOK SMART.

Also, thanks to the regulars for coming over on Tuesday night for the Ring of Honor show. It was a good pay per view.

I'm done.

Wrestling Night!

Tuesday, June 17th is the next big wrestling night, and we're going to watch Ring of Honor's most recent pay per view, Take No Prisoners. Wooooo! That's Tuesday at 7!

This poster sucks, but I suspect this show will not.

Speaking of shows, rumors now have The Office spin off featuring Rashida Jones and her Utica branch of Dunder Mifflin. This would be fine by me.

Spiders Are Stupid

I was seated here typing, a Diet Pepsi sitting just off to the left of my keyboard. Out of the corner of my eye, I spied a silken thread with a decent sized spider dangling at the end of it. I quickly positioned my empty soda can underneath the arachnid, and he dropped right into it. I laughed. Seriously. My life is very empty, folks, so I have to make my own fun. Anyway, I set the can back down and continued to type. Upon needing a bathroom break, I took the can with me, not even thinking about the spider. If I'd have paused to give it any regard, I'd have probably guessed that it crawled out. I tapped out the trace amounts of liquid remaining in the vessel, and with it came the balled up corpse of my spider friend. The Diet Pepsi can had become an aluminum coffin because the eight-legged freak DROWNED IN A TRICKLE OF POP. Spiders are stupid.

Maybe you'll be able to make more sense of it than me

When I checked my E-mail this morning, I had a picture from Paul that he thought would be perfect for the blog. I'm not so sure, but I don't get many requests, so I may as well honor this one.

Hmmmmm... don't get it. He suggests we use it for bestiality ridicule. I'll go first. DOWN WITH BESTIALITY!

More Reasons to be Cheerful

There's been a lot of gloom on the ol' blog lately, so I want to part the clouds a little bit this evening, and write about some positives in my life:

I saw Be Kind Rewind this afternoon, and it ruled. Bonus is that I felt well enough to actually go see it in a theater. Thumbs up! Gondry is artsy but isn't a d-bag about it, a rare combination.

I played some of Fallout 2 with the Restoration Project patch, and most of the additions (which are numerous) have been cool so far. Only complaint is that you can't go an inch on the world map without running into a random encounter, so that's something that could use a tweak for the next release.

I got chicken pox when I was six! I mention this as a positive because Jason, at the tender age of 25, is now suffering from them. Rough stuff.

Broin' Down 13 is tomorrow, and I've never not had fun at one of those.

It's not all bad. And it's assuredly going to get better. I have a big, wacky balance test on Thursday that's supposedly going to be a grueling ninety minutes. No fun, but if it gets me any closer to answers and a resolution, I'm happy to go as long as they want.

Back (probably) tomorrow with last minute hype for the big event.

Okay, Awesome

Didn't fare too well in the ol' picks yesterday, only getting two winners correct. I did, however, call the decision victory for boring ol' Mike Swick, so that's fine, I guess.

I haven't seen another human being for almost two days. Even my parents. I was taking a shower a few minutes ago and I started to think about that. Oh well. I'll hopefully see lots of human beings Tuesday night for Broin' Down 13: Subtitle At Large!

Also, today's post? 619!

Better get these in early

UFC 85 PICKS!

Matt Hughes over Thiago Alves by second round submission

Michael Bisping over Jason Day by second round stoppage

Mike Swick over Marcus Davis by decision, SNORE.

Brandon Vera over Fabricio Werdum by third round stoppage

And a big ol' DON'T CARE for the rest of the card. I'll be back soon with a thrilling Dreamcast update. Thank you and good night!

Oh, don't forget... three days from now is Broin' Down 13: Subtitle at Large.

Happy Days Are Here Again

WWE has re-signed D'Lo Brown. In celebration, I will refrain from criticizing the company for exactly ONE MONTH, starting now! Better make it a week. Yeah, a week.

In other news, Tuesday is Broin' Down 13: Subtitle At Large. Just a friendly reminder.

The silver lining

Small comfort: my passing out tends to endanger my right leg more than my head. Sprained ankle in January, and a sprained foot yesterday. Better than a concussion, I'll say that much.

Before I Go-Go

I’m sitting here blogging on Sunday night as I wait for my cousin Annie to drop off a DVD so I can go to sleep. In a few hours (exactly seven from the time I’m writing these words), I’ll be on the road to the Queen City, Cincinnati! Home of jazz fest and blown spots! It’s Jason’s final week as an undergraduate and I’m going to go distract him from his studies for a couple of days in the hopes of forestalling his graduation. I will return Tuesday night, ready for action. Or, more likely, sleep.

I have an appointment with two doctors at the same place on Wednesday. I want ANSWERS, doggone it!

There’s going to be an MMORPG set in the DC Universe. I’ve never played one of these things, but I can actually see myself spending money to be allowed to bebop around a virtual Gotham City. On the other hand, if I’m healthy by the time this comes out, I’ll deny I ever said it.

That’s about all for today, really. Just wanted to keep the content barrage coming.

I’m missing an MC Chris show to visit Jason. That said, I probably wouldn’t have been able to go to it anyway. That’s pretty obnoxious. Even more so than Chris himself.
