But first... a joke from my popsicle stick.
Q: What time is it when seven hungry lions are chasing you?
I've been quite lonely of late in the romantical sense, and it's kind of a vicious circle. I want to be in a relationship, but every woman I'm interested in is unavailable to me in one way or another. This would suggest that I need to maybe meet some new people. Unfortunately, I'm a total disaster right now. So even though I want to be with someone, I'm at the worst possible point in my life to actually pursue it. I wish I could go back to school this quarter. It makes it a lot easier to meet people because you all have at least one thing in common.
And I'm not fishing for, well, anything with this blog entry. I am a disaster. Since December I've stopped going to the gym, passed out more frequently, had my baseline level of dizziness increase dramatically, and also feel like I'm starting to lose my grip on reality. I'm a mess. So I just need to suck it up and deal with the loneliness until I can get my life back on track, because I wouldn't wish myself on any woman right now.
A: Seven after one!

Hype!
I'm running late for a movie, so I'll make this brief:
DEJA VU!
Davekwon, myself and my friend Erin will be heading to YELLOW SPRINGS on the evening of Saturday, October 25th to partake in the Little Art Theater's horror marathon. Tickets are $25 and I'd love to have more people heading out west with us. The lineup thus far includes Psycho, Eraserhead, Dead Alive (WELL ACTUALLY, IT'S CALLED BRAIN DAMAGE), and Videodrome. I'd like to buy the tickets fairly soon, as I'm not really sure what the capacity of the theater is. So, if anyone would like to join the overnight trip, respond here by Wednesday and I'll work it out.
ADIOS!

Nick of time
I fell asleep tonight at around 8:30 or 9:00. I woke up a couple of minutes ago, absolutely certain that I had missed my blogging window for August 28th, and quite sad. I glanced at my phone's display to find that it was 11:40. It was far too dark to be 11:40 am on the 29th, so with great horror, I then wondered if I had actually slept for twenty-seven consecutive hours. It was so inconceivable to me that I was in the same day that I had gone to sleep in that I jumped to this conclusion. I still pretty much can't believe it.
UPDATE: I finished MARVEL ZOMBIES. Robert Kirkman needs to study great episodic television or penny dreadfuls or something. The purpose of a cliffhanger is to make the reader/viewer/consumer want to see what happens next. Now, it's possible that this is actually the end of the seires, and there's no more to come, in which case it's not a bad cliffhanger, it's just the worst ending to a story I've ever read. Pick your poison, Kirkman.
Jason has moved out of his apartment in the University of Cincinnati campus area. He now lives in Fort Mitchell, Kentucky. Yes.
I just had a dream that people were having a water balloon fight outside my house. On one side it was Phil Jackson and Kareem Abdul Jabbar, and on the other side it was Phil Jackson and Jerry Colangelo. Yes, Phil Jackson was on both sides of this altercation. My dog Jessie was there too, which was nice because I hadn't seen her since she died about eight years ago.
That's church.

Rx Blogging
My therapist began encouraging me to keep a journal a couple of weeks back. I told her that while I used to do that (to an obsessive extent for many years in fact), I'd really been using one of those newfangled blogs as my outlet for that kind of thing over the past four and a half years. Yesterday I told her that I'd recently recommitted myself to BotBTWDMtSM and she was pleased. Sadly, she is a PhD and not an MD. It would have been cool to have a prescription sheet that ordered 50mg of BLOG per day.
I want Mercenaries 2. Also, a Nintendo DS and too many games to count for that particular handheld device.
Thanks to Amanda for demanding an emergency Wrestling Night yesterday. I hadn't seen the 1992 Royal Rumble in some time, and it was as grand as I remembered it. WOOOOOOO! Next month... LUCHA~!
Dave bought the Spaced collection, incurring great jealousy from me.

ZoMiCs
I was speaking to Abe this afternoon (who, by the way, does not know more about zombie movies than I do) and after chatting about various subjects (the greatness of The Dark Knight, life on the cranberry bog, Michelle Pfeiffer's catsuit, etc.) we settled on a discussion of Robert Kirkman's The Walking Dead. Now, I've recently caught up on the fifty-one issue and counting book, and plan to follow it to its completion. This despite the fact that I don't really find it to be all that good. It's plodding, filled with incidental characters and rife with melodrama. But it also has ZOMBIES. I was complaining to Abe about the scarcity of zombie-related comic books when he clued me in to the existence of something that had somehow gone by completely unnoticed: MARVEL ZOMBIES, the main arc of which is also penned by Kirkman.
So, this evening and early morning, I sat down and read 21 issues of undead content, with five left to crack. I have two comments to make, but they are contentious and therefore must be prefaced with this; I don't read a lot of comic books, and certainly not many outside the mainstream. With that said, 1) the main plotline of MARVEL ZOMBIES is the weirdest thing I've ever read in a comic book and 2) Black Panther is the most bland, generic superhero (and superhero comic) in existence save for one quirk. He takes his mask off ALL THE TIME, almost any time he's talking to someone. WHY DO YOU HAVE A MASK!?
In order to get the entire MARVEL ZOMBIES story, I had to read four issues of this Black Panther comic, and I'm glad I did. Never again can I say that Speedball is the stupidest superhero I've ever come across. Marvel sucks. Also, Robert Kirkman isn't a very good writer. But I will continue to read his tripe so long as a hunger for human flesh is front and center.
I need to get ahold of Steve Niles' Remains.

Prelude to the new Blog-a-rama
I feel better.
Also, I'm typing this from my friend Erin's laptop and worrying about groin radiation, so I'll make it quick.
Joe Biden? Really?
Fred and Gunn are a stupid couple.
I love Jenna Fischer.
PEACE.
TODAY BEGINS THE FIRST OF 34 CONSECUTIVE DAYS OF CONTENT. BALLIN'!

Respect is not given, it is earned!
Wrestling night returns with the most recent Ring of Honor pay per view, RESPECT IS EARNED... 2.
Join me on Tuesday, August 19th at 7 pm for two hours of too many moves to count or care about!
The card, for the heck of it:
Nigel McGuinness defends the RoH World Championship against rising Pro Wrestling NOAH star GO Shiozaki
The Vulture Squad (CAW! CAW! CAW!) contingent of Ruckus and Jigsaw battle Kevin Steen and El Generico in tag team action
Roderick Strong and Erick Stevens will do violence to one another in a FIGHT WITHOUT HONOR, here in Ring of Honor.
And in our MAIN EVENT (I think, but it might be the World title match), tag team gold is on the line as THE GHOST WITH THE MOST Bryan Danielson joins forces with J.R.R. Tolkien's Austin Aries to combat the championship duo of Jimmy Jacobs and Tylder Black, THE AGE OF THE FALL!
And then there's a six man tag featuring Sweet & Sour Inc. on the undercard, so that will rule as well.
DON'T BE SQUARE!

I Hate My Blog
What was once a source of great joy in my life has become a depressing albatross of late. Looking back at recent entries, it's nothing but doom and gloom. This blog has always been an extension of my personality, and for the bulk of 2008, that personality has been almost non-existent. I'm half tempted to just put a stake in this portal and delete it, but I know I'd ultimately regret that. I just don't see myself updating too often until things improve. I'm not enjoying my life right now, and I don't want to feign enthusiasm about it. What would be the point? It would just be a huge chunk of a blog that when I look back on it, I'd know how disingenuous I was being. Not my cup of tea. Anyway, I may pop in here or there when there's genuine mirth to talk about. So keep your eyes peeled and all that.
Love, Andy
