I'm sure all of you are just aching for the Blogaversary post at this point, but it's going to have to wait until I get some of this medical shiz cleared up. I've been having heavy recurrences of past problems with regards to passing out, general dizziness, blurred vision, etc., so the time I've been online in the past week has been brief and somewhat difficult. I'm sure I'll be fine, but I just didn't want anyone to wonder what had become of me.
I did see Constantine and Cursed-Gu over the weekend. I loved every single second of Constantine, so fuck haters. I don't care if I ever read any more Hellblazer, I just want Constantine 2. Cursed-Gu was very "eh", but Pacey was in it, and that was cool. Christina Ricci's skeleton was the star, and she's just as good an actress as her flesh, but not nearly as hot. Kind of takes away from the formula. Anyway, if anybody wants to hang out, you know where I'll be. Peace.

Let's go ahead and git-r-done
May 13th is Ring of Honor's return date to Dayton, so let's go ahead and get tickets ordered pronto. Can anyone think off the top of their head of any conflicts with this date?
Apparently the show last night weas pretty rockin, and again I apologize for all the confusion. But let's (those who want to go at least) make sure it doesn't happen again. The quick turnaround for another show is pretty nice, too. Tickets go on sale Monday.

Icy cold grip of death

I pulled pall bearer duty for the first time in my life at my great Uncle Frank's funeral on Wednesday, and as advertised, I was not a rassler.
This was really just an excuse to throw up a Paul Bearer picture, and I'm sure you all appreciated it.
In other news, Jason admitted to liking Farscape, after months of weak smack talk without ever having seen it. Three episodes in, and this is first season, mind you, the weakest season by far, and he's digging it. The Farscape is truly too powerful for any one man to resist.

Way too hot

Travelin' Man
Old people drop like flies. My uncle Gale passed away a few weeks ago and his funeral was over the weekend. It was a big military to do out at Arlington National Cemetery with a fly over and the 18 gun salute and what not, so he was sent off in the way he'd have wanted. My Uncle Frank just died on Friday afternoon though, thankfully of old age. Anyway, I'll be in Huntington for Tuesday until Wednesday afternoon, so if anyone calls and can't get ahold of me, you know why. I feel like I should post SOMETHING though...
Aside from Road to Eltingville, I think that Robot Chicken might be the funniest thing I've ever seen on Adult Swim. I don't know if it'll hold up over the long haul (Eltingville might not have), but at 11 minutes a week, it might be just perfect.
Anyway, talk to y'all when I return.

Ring of Failure
For once, my fighting spirit has fled me and I know not why. Maybe because I waited too long to order tickets. Nothing left for Dayton but General Admission, so I think the Ring of Honor field trip is off. Maybe next time, probably mid-summer. I'm sorry everyone. I blew it this time.

Hump Day (Yeah, weak)
Well, it's pretty clear that Big Dave couldn't be properly celebrated in a mere day, so a week later, I'm back with new hotness. Well, sort of.
I don't have a lot to say, but I do think I'd be doing a disservice if I didn't pay my respects to Ossie Davis. Best portrayal of JFK ever. Sorry "Clone High", but it's true. He was a shining light in the civil rights movement and his impact on American culture will never be forgotten, I'm sure. I liked him on "Evening Shade" back in the day, too.
We've got EIGHT folks rollin' out to Dayton on the 25th. That's insane. The rings will never be more honorable than that night, I tell ya what.
I bought Grudge-Gu. It's still creepy.
I saw "Boogey Man". It was also creepy, but there's a reason I seperated this and the above item. It SUCKED. It had great atmosphere in many portions of the movie, but my God was it just a big batch of nothing happening.
The "Scrubs" theme is actually a full song. It kind of sucks, but I really like it. Like, if it had come out in 2004, it might have beaten out both Rachel Stevens' "Some Girls" AND Britney Spears' "Toxic" as my favorite pop song of the year.
I should never have undertaken the Blogaversary post. It's way too big, and nobody is going to read it. Also, it's not going to be finished for another week, probably. I shouldn't have built it up at all.
John Cena's name has been bandied about for the next Predator movie. Okay, Cena's no Rock. He's more like a nise Mark Wahlberg, but if the Predator turned on his camouflage and said "You Can't See Me" I would party and freak out at my local cineplex.
I guess Doctor Phil did a show about someone's husband being addicted to wrestling today. Fuck Doctor Phil, and fuck the thought process that leads one to thinking that's a problem in the first place.
NBA Street Volume 3 is out and I don't have it yet. This presents a problem. A PROBLEM THAT WILL BE REMEDIED! Probably this weekend. That series is so awesome.
At this point, "Spirit of Radio" is playing on Winamp. Such a better song than "Tom Sawyer".
I have a huge crush on Soleil Moon Frye this week. "Punky Brewster" Season 2. Own it on DVD today!

A Day for Dave (Not Kwon)
The Blogaversary post is a work in progress (it's pretty chunky), so in the meantime, I thought I would be remiss if I didn't honor the accomplishments of one "Big" Dave Bautista, the winner of the 2005 Royal Rumble, and as it sits, one half of the Wrestlemania 21 main event.
Batista as 'Leviathan' in Ohio Valley Wrestling
I didn't really see much in Batista early on. I remember hearing Jim Cornette say back in 2001 (when Batista was still cutting his teeth in Kentucky based Ohio Valley Wrestling) that he was a can't miss future Wrestlemania main eventer. He actually said "Wrestlemania main eventer". That's a lot of stock to put in someone who at that point had had maybe fifty professional matches. But after a shaky start on the main WWE roster (who else remembers Reverend D-Von's whipping boy, Deacon Batista?) and a couple of stints on the injured reserve, Batista joined up with Evolution (I may hate Triple H, but he's the right guy to get the rub from) and started working with better wrestlers on a consistent basis.
Deacon Batista guards the poor box
I think it must have been Wrestlemania 20 when things started clicking for me where Batista is concerned. He's not a great wrestler, by any means. But he only does the things that he can do well, the mark of a smart wrestler. He has an intensity unmatched by any wrestler in WWE today (and not seen in major league wrestling since the initial appearance of Bill Goldberg in WCW) and it makes everything he does seem urgent, like it means something. Add to that the fact that his character is developing layers, and he himself is becoming quite a gifted, nuanced actor (by professional wrestling standards). He's not in the league of a Mick Foley or William Regal, but he more than holds his own in backstage confabs with Ric Flair and Triple H on a weekly basis.
Big Dave triumphant in the Royal Rumble match
The main thing about Batista that will make him an enormous superstar in 2005 is his believability. I think it was on this very blog many months ago that I stated, "Kane plays a monster on TV. Batista IS a monster." After years of big men like Nathan Jones, Matt Morgan, John Heidenreich and the lamentable Gene Snitsky, it's a wonderful change of pace to have a big man like Batista fucking up people's entire week each and every Monday. I declare this, January 31st, to be "Big Dave Day". You earned it, pal. You truly are the man.
Even if I didn't like him, this picture would strike enough fear in me to declare a day for him anyway

WHERE'S HIS SECOND HEAD!?
So, I got to see the toy lineup for the upcoming Hitchhiker's Guide Movie. Notice anything about Zaphod? Anything at all? What have they done!?
I'm still hopeful, sort of. Apparently his head rolls back like a wheel to reveal the other. I don't know why they'd screw with something so familiar though.

HYPE!!!!!
Don't forget to tune in this weekend for my first annual BLOGAVERSARY post. It was January 22nd, 2004 when I got this bitch started, and 159 posts later, it's still sputtering along. Remember along with me the good and bad of the first year. The triumph, the tragedy, the ill fated "What Do These Three Things Have In Common?". It'll all be here. Keep your eyes peeled.
See? Krypto totally has the right idea.
