Am I here to amuse you?

The Beautiful and Beloved and I caught the "Big Fish"/"Goodfellas" double bill at Studio 35. I think that all gritty mob dramas were meant to be watched through a scratched glass window while sitting in a cramped booth smoking cigarettes. It also made the knowledge that Jimmy Conway is eligible for parole this year THAT much scarier.

Ashley has much less tolerance for the cold than I do. Must be all that Nordic blood running through my veins. Or maybe she's just a wuss.

Happy birthday to my delightful cousin Annie. She's legal in Canada, folks.

Cheers to Cody for sticking to his guns with his new diet and work out schedule. I expect to see you playing corner for OU in two years time.

Jeers to Andrew for not wanting to be Ashley's "friend friend".

Ultimate jeers to Andy for not leading a more interesting life, thus wasting the gentle reader's time. I'll try harder.

Would I change it if I could?

Given the option to go back to the point in my life before I agreed to see "The Butterfly Effect", I think that time and space would have remained right on track. I did NOT loathe this movie. I didn't even dislike it. It was kind of stupid, but I was entertained all the way through. That's really all I ask of standard cinema fare.

On the subject of films that are (fairly) certain to rock my socks off, we caught the trailers for both "Dawn of the Dead 2K4" and "Walking Tall 2K4". On one hand, you have a remake that might possibly break my heart with its ineptitude, and on the other, you have a sure-fire ass kicking vehicle for The Rock that can't help but improve on its source material. I have some faith in the 'Dawn' remake, and I'm rarely disappointed by anything that has zombies in it, but I still worry that I'll be unable to hold it apart from its predeccesor. That is a game that 2K4 CANNOT win. The zombie pregnancy worries me a bit as well.

Loser friends NOT named Cody

Interesting last couple of days. For me at least. I brought Julia out to meet you sorry lot of Columbus fucks. I'm happy to report that she really liked everyone that she met, even Lee.

Having a focused, dedicated conversation where the only noise to be heard for five hours are the voices of the two people involved is a pleasure that I had all but forgotten about.

We have to posse up and see Apollo Sunshine at Scully's. Low dough, baby! Low dough!

The Royal Rumble was tonight. Yeah. Royal Rumble like a motherfuck! Much like the 1992 version where Flair won it all, this was definitely a one match show. The Rumble match itself saved the show, and it saved it in a big way. Everything else was decent, but nothing was really "prime time" until the actual Rumble. It may have been the best one ever.

Unfortunately, attendance was not all that it could be. Cynthia's party took away Kehn, Lee, and Keith. At least Funky D rolled deep, bringing the much needed wrestling love. Even though he's on a "These indys need more exposure, the average wrestling fans are being screwed!" kick. Keith... your betrayal hurts. It hurts as much as the first time. Could have called back, man. Could have called back. :(

As for the party itself, how was I supposed to know that when Kehn says that it'll last from "4:30 to around 7:30", that what he really means is that people didn't even start showing up until around 8? He's tricky. But it's the way of his people and I respect that.

Where ChrisTOPHER Robin plays

Win a Date With Tad Hamilton was positively decent. Topher was totally off the chain, though. He was right in there, man. Carrying bad dialogue with his right on delivery, winning scenes left and right and rallying the audience behind him in the face of insurmountable odds!

Andy: Win a Date With Tad Hamilton was pretty decent.

Cody: Yeah?

Andy: Yeah. Topher Grace was all... Topheriffic.

Cody: Which is probably mighty nice.

Andy: Oh you have nooooo idea.

I love Cody. And yes, "Stand back", because Topher Grace rocks me like a hurricane.

Until next time... you have been blogged!

When is a bargain not a bargain?

So, I didn't get that job. THANK GOD. Kind of. Anyway, I walked over to CD Warehouse to check out their wares afterwards, and found a copy of Summerslam 1993. YEAH, BABY. It looked to be in awesome shape, too. I was all set to buy the Hell out of that thing, until the beguiling Rivers Cuomoish counter jockey told me that it was ten bucks. Now, I like my vintage rasslin, but TEN BUCKS for Summerslam 1993 isn't exactly... wait, I just looked at the match list. Fuck... THAT was on it? God damn it. Well, I hope it's still there tomorrow afternoon. (Gringe)

Cody sez: "That's what you get." He's a great guy.

Jobs, pop, gay sitcoms

Happy fun job interview in 8.5 short hours. IS GOOD FOR YOU! I ain't spillin' about where it is unless I get it. My God I really hope I don't get it. Isn't that terrible? I'm interviewing for a job and I'm rooting against myself.

I'm going to figure out how to implement comments when I get home from the interview. That way I can see if anybody actually reads this drivel.

I'm going to see "Win a Date With Tad Hamilton" this afternoon. My Topher Grace crush is in full swing. Must support his career in any way possible. Must consume "That '70s Show" memorabilia. Must... make... Topher... A-List star. I'd like to think that I'm mostly immune to that kind of pop culture vapidness, but I'm really not. Sitcoms can still hook me, bad pop music can still scratch my itch the first ten times I hear a song, and I even really want to see "American Wedding" for reasons not entirely known to me. I suppose I can take it as a positive that I didn't care enough to see it in theaters, but it's upcoming ppv debut may be too tempting to resist.

Billy and Chuck should have gotten married. And then they should have had a spin-off sitcom on UPN. I'd have watched that.

On that note, I think I'm beat. Sleepy time.

Ass end of a hot trend

Because I'm sure it's what each and every one of you needs, I've decided to get bloggy with it in the '04. It's shaping up to be a pretty decent year thus far, so I figure that I might as well keep some sort of record of the events therein. If things take a horrific '03ish turn for the worse, this will be immediately discontinued and I will move to a random, far off city for three weeks. Maybe Yakima this time. Yakima would be cool.

Anyhow, we'll see how the Great Expirement goes, as I'll probably just be using this to post my general thoughts on wrestling, TV shows, sports, books, my jackass friends, and as little as possible about my positively BURGEONING love life. (Gringe)

Oh, Cody says that it's time for me to mention him. Cody is a great guy. He lives in Oklahoma City. I've been trying to get him to give me his phone number for the better part of a year, but Cody is a pussy. A great guy, but a pussy nonetheless.

Oh, anyone who is a borderline wrestling fan but hates all of WWE's bullshit needs to watch Ring of Honor. Not today. Not yesterday. Last fucking week. That's how good this shit is. 4 out of 4 Wilmington, Ohio show attendees agree.

I'm bringing Julia to the bar on Saturday night so be on your best behavior, Columbus folk. I dig this lady. Don't scare her off. Lee.

TTFN and remember... two months until Dawn of the Dead 2004. It's here to save us all.

(I used the word "fuck" a whole lot. I wonder if that's indicative of anything.)
