Not only did our intrepid band of moviegoers stand up, fight back, and walk tall, we gave evil HELL! 2/2, I'd say. America agreed, making "Hellboy" the top movie of the weekend to the tune of 23.5 million dollars, while "Walking Tall" raked in 15.3 million. Based on word of mouth and strength of reviews, I'd imagine "Hellboy" will continue to perform well, while "Walking Tall" will do just the opposite.
I actually think this was a glitch on someone's part, scheduling two fairly fanboy-intensive movies to go head-to-head like this. I mean, you have to figure there's enough of a crossover between wrestling and comic culture that a lot of folks were going to have to decide between one movie or the other this weekend... at least until they got their next allowance money.
