This is more depressing in retrospect than I intended for it to be

Photobucket

I totally love this poster. Hunter looks like he's just had it. So weary. It's great for another reason, though; these posters usually come out a couple months before the event, so sometimes the match being promoted by the poster ends up not taking place for one reason or the other. HOWEVER, this is a rare case of a poster featuring a performer who never even makes an appearance on the pay per view! So awesome.

DREAMCAST UPDATE: One new game!

Rayman 2: The Great Escape: This was completely slept on by me, and it's pure platforming gold. Just awesome gameplay, tight controls, very pretty graphics, and a pretty decent story thus far. THUMBS UP TO RAYMAN 2!

Another Day, Another Super Awesome Poster

Photobucket

DREAMCAST UPDATE:

I got three new games yesterday, and they're all totally rad, as far as I can tell.

Jojo's Bizarre Adventure: I had absolutely no idea what to expect going into this one, and I was still thrown by it being a fighting game. The word "adventure" is in the title, after all. I played one round of this, as a hawk named "Petshop." I fought a small dog, and lost. Still, pretty cool.

Power Stone 2: I'd played a demo of this a long time ago and it seemed interesting enough. Another fighter, sort of, but with tons of running around and item collecting to do. Reminds me a little of the Super Smash Brothers series, just not as pretty.

Resident Evil 2: God bless the Dreamcast, it's Rookie Arrange mode finally gave me the courage to play this game for a good twenty minutes or so. Not having to worry about ammo conservation is a big plus when you're making absolutely certain that every ghoul STAYS DOWN.

Look at this game. This is terrible. Yet, I could not possibly overcome my fears and pick up a light gun to tame its awfulness.

Joy and Pain

I'm in a good mood, but it's a weird, nervous kind of good mood. Whatever though, I'll take it! And I'll spread it around! Behold... WWE'S BADD BLOOD!

Photobucket

Why is the Undertaker holding his own head? I don't know! I've even seen the pay per view and I still DON'T KNOW. I miss really shitty, laughable posters like this, though they still exist to some degree, but I do have to at least give WWE's art department credit for upgrading so much in the past few years. This kind of poster would never pass muster today. Which is a little bit sad, I'll give you.

My Life's Ambition, plus KANE IN A SMOCK

Photobucket

We're not watching this pay per view, but I'm on a good poster run and I didn't want it to end so soon.

Next wrestling night is tentatively set for Tuesday, June 17th. I was thinking next Tuesday initially, but I think I'm going to be in Cincinnati, and the following Tuesday, June 10th, is Broin' Down 13: SUBTITLE STILL AT LARGE. We'll be watching either the Pro Wrestling NOAH 6/1 show from the Hokkaido Sports Center or the Ring of Honor Take No Prisoners pay per view. It really largely depends on how easily I can DL all the NOAH matches.

I have a new goal in life. So as not to lessen the impact of telling you all about this new goal, I'll get my reasoning out of the way up front; I'm ill, and very limited. I plan on getting better, and truly believe this has to either run its course or some medical treatment will work. So when I do get better, I'm sure I'll move on to a much more substantial life goal. Now, having said all that... I'm going to get every commercially released Dreamcast game. All 243 or so of them. Even the old sports games, like NHL 2K1. I HATE HOCKEY, but it's a Dreamcast game, and it must be mine.

THIS COLLECTION IS CHILD'S PLAY

I think I have about fifty so far. Long way to go, and some are going to be very difficult to procure, even through somewhat illicit means. Speaking of, I wonder if Sega cares about any of that at this point? The console is dead, so is it basically all freeware now? Or is it one of those things where they figure they can make money off some of that library at some point, so every title is still sacrosanct? I'd bet on the latter. Oh well, if I go to jail over Space Channel 5, I figure I did something to piss off God anyway and likely deserve it.

Anyway, wish me well in my quest. Those melatonin tablets are kicking in, so I'm gonna hit the ol' hay! PEACE.

This is how we blog it

I just thought I smelled Mac and Cheese, and I got really excited. But then I remembered that I don't have any Mac and Cheese. I am sad. I don't know what I smelled, but it's a tease.

Photobucket
More like Mac and Tease, am I right?

In other news, I went out of my house at night for the first time in 11 days on Saturday. I only almost passed out once at Bw3s, which I'm calling a win.

I went up to my bedroom to check and see if I had any missed calls several hours ago, and on my way up, the phone began to ring. It was Funky D. It was weird. We are strangely connected. He went to see the Dirtbombs earlier tonight. I did not. He offered me a free ticket. I turned him down without really even thinking about it. I'm annoyingly limited, especially at night.

I thought that Bud Light Lime was pretty good at first, but as it turns out, it's only all right. Total bummer. Also, it's no cheaper than Corona. What's the deal? There is no deal, that's what it is. By gum, it's nearly enough to drive a man to Tequiza.

Photobucket
And that mug is enough to drive me right back away from it.

Being without my first and fourth seasons of Farscape is really obnoxious. I'd much rather be without seasons one and two, or three and four. As it is, all I can do is watch the middle of the story. Thanks, Ashley's forgetfulness and armed robbers.

Time to eat. But not Mac and Cheese. :(

Picks for the Record

I'm going to watch violence tonight, so I thought I'd get my picks for the main card out there.

BJ Penn over Sean Sherk by second round stoppage

Wanderlei Silva over Keith Jardine by third round KO

Lyoto Machida over Tito Ortiz by decision

There's a couple other fights, but who cares, really?

Be warned; this is a lot of whining

In my PJs by 9:00 on a Friday night. Do I know how to live or what? It takes so much concentration and effort to kind of keep myself together during the day that most of the time, especially if I worked or went out at all, I'm completely wrecked by sundown. I blame my sister today. She called me at 8:30 in the morning, and I decided to start my day at that point because of it. I took a melatonin tablet about an hour ago, and I fell asleep briefly, but no good for the long haul (Note: I originally wrote "I feel asleep", which is as good an excuse as any to post the following Metal Gear screen cap.).

Photobucket

It's been over five months. I'm really tired of this. I want my life to start again.

2008 = 2006

And it only took four months and change! 2007 is goin' down!

All I can say is, thank God we didn't spend money on that.

Judgment Day... what can be said? I didn't think it was bad per se, just boring. From JBL's interminable bodyscissors in the opener to the bloodless, heatless cage match in the main event, this was two hours and forty-five minutes ill spent. I can't even imagine how bored I'd have been had the crew not brought the wrestling love to mi casa. Thanks to the Sinister Six who came by, and maybe next time we'll take a break from the WWE and branch out a little bit.

Photobucket
For goodness' sake, somebody throw a punch!

My Gossip Girl embargo lasted all of two weeks, as an E-mail from Ashley shortly after my blog entry today inspired me to track down the last two episodes. So, I watched them, and the murder plot was just as dumb as I'd feared. Add to that a season finale that left me no longer caring about any of the characters, and I'm even less jazzed about the show than I was previously. Maybe the long summer break will get me geared up for more trash in the fall, but right now, I think I could live without ever watching this show again. Still, those first thirteen or so episodes were awesome.

And for old time's sake...

"What? I'm on this blog again? Can this guy get a life?"

Gossip, Folks and last minute Judgment Day hype

You may remember back in October when I was talking up a little show called Gossip Girl. I noted how much I was digging the CW's newest teen soap and even got to watch Lee use a lot of words in the service of being wrong about Joss Whedon in the Comments section. But I digress. I loved Gossip Girl. I loved the first thirteen episodes, and my desire burned just as hot three months later when my show of shows came back from writer's strike hiatus. For three episodes. You see, two weeks ago, I gave up on Gossip Girl. For more than seven months and sixteen episodes I couldn't get enough of the insignificant problems of spoiled rich kids from Manhattan. And then... well, I won't get into specifics but suffice to say, the show took a very Kane-Triple H circa 2002 turn, minus the necrophilia. And I just don't need to live through that again. So congratulations, Gossip Girl. You did your best.

All that said, I would do such things to Leighton Meester.

Remember ppv goers; 7pm tonight. Don't be late. Or, ya know, do be late and miss stuff. THE CHOICE IS YOURS.

The mighty Judgment Day preview

Are you ready for Judgment Day? Triple H and a bunch of inmates are!

Photobucket

Tuesday, May 20th, 7pm! Come and see a pay per view for FREE! Also, thrill to a seven match lineup wherein four bouts are variations of matches from last month's Backlash! Furthermore, see Edge battle the Undertaker with the World Heavyweight Championship at stake... for the third month in a row! I think it might be time for an infusion of some new heels on the ol' Smackdown! side, y'know? I love Undertaker and Edge as much as anybody, but get these guys some fresh dance partners.

Other matches include Triple H defending his WWE Championship against Randy Orton in a STEEL CAGE for no readily apparent reason!

Photobucket

The Odd Couple of CM Punk and Kane challenging The Miz and John Morrison for the WWE Tag Team Titles!

Photobucket
To heck with these WWE nancy boys. This is what a real tag team looks like.

And my most favorite of all, BIG SHOW VERSUS MARK HENRY. There are few match ups I anticipate like those that place one big, fat man at odds with another big, fat man. Sadly, Big Show had to look out for his own well being and drop a hundred pounds during his year off, but I think this battle still holds much promise.

Also, John Cena will face JBL, Shawn Michaels and Chris Jericho will go at it, and Mickie James defends against Melina and Beth Phoenix in some sort of triangle match. A good time will be had by all!

As a final note, when I searched for "WWE Judgment Day 2008" in Google Image Search in order to come up with the poster, I also found the following:

Photobucket

I don't know what it has to do with this ppv in particular seeing as neither Dave Batista nor Rey Mysterio are wrestling on it, but suffice to say this should just be the poster for every WWE pay per view from this day forth.
